March 14-17, 2013: Dr. Barb Findlay and Pat from reception attended the American Animal Hospital Association's annual conference and will bring back information to help keep us on the cutting edge!

February 17-21: Dr. Karyn Jones and our Practice Manager, Scott McRobbie, will be heading out shortly to the Western Veterinary Conference. We are interested to learn the new techniques and ideas they return with.

Pet Dental Health Month: February 2013 - We are pleased to report that in the last year, over 130 of our patients have brighter, healthier smiles after dental procedures performed here at Ajax Animal Hospital.
If your pet's mouth seems sore, the teeth/gums are discoloured or there is an abnormal odour, please arrange to bring him or her in for a veterinarian to do an oral health examination and assessment.

January 24 - 26, 2013 - Dr. Ehrlich, Dr. Jones and Scott McRobbie, our Practice Manager, will be attending the OVMA annual veterinary conference in chilly Downtown Toronto. They will be pursuing continuing education about Pet Dentistry, Animal Behaviour, Dermatology and other pertinent veterinary topics.

January 17, 2013 - Dr. Bowes and Tania one of our RVTs is heading out to the NAVC this week to attend the biggest veterinary conference in North America. We look forward to learning the newest treatments and tests available to companion animal veterinarians when they return.

January, 2013 - The Veterinarians at the Ajax Animal Hospital have a membership with the American Association of Feline Practitioners. This allows us to be kept up to date about current issues with feline health and cat medicine in general.

November 19, 2012 - Please join us in welcoming Dr. Lenhardt back after her maternity leave. We are so pleased to have her back with us and visits from her gorgeous daughter Kara always make us smile.

November, 2012 - Dr. Ehrlich went to a presentation by an internal medicine specialist outlining the most recent information about heart disease in dogs and what you can do when you first find out that your dog has a heart murmur.

October, 2012 - Dr. Chan and Dr. Ehrlich attended a continuing education lecture on Critical and Emergency care.

September, 2012 - Dr. Bowes, Dr. Chan and Dr. Findlay went to a presentation by our Diagnostic Labratory, IDEXX, to learn about recent innovations in the diagnosis and treatment of Pancreatitis.

May 2012 - Dr. Bowes, Cassia RVT and Barb from the front desk have been to visit and tour the Royal Canin food production facility to see first hand where some of the food that is sold at our clinic is produced - Guelph!

March 15 - 19, 2012 - Dr. Findlay and Tina Berlinghoff (RVT) attended the AAHA Veterinary Conference in Denver. They brought back important information about new options for providing safe analgesia and anesthesia in our companion animals.

February 19-23rd, 2012 - Three team members from AAH will be attending the Western Veterinary Conference. This meeting provides continuing eduction about techniques, treatments, medications and products and Dr. Jones, Scott McRobbie (Practice Manager) and Jodi (Registered Veterinary Technician) are looking forward to bringing new information back to the practice!

January 26 - 28, 2012 - Dr. Chan along with three of our registered veterinary technicians, Karen, Lisa and Cassia, will be attending the OVMA Conference being held in Toronto. This is a continuing education meeting that will provide access to the newest information available to veterinarians and RVTs in Ontario.

December, 2011 - We would like to introduce Dr. Lisa Bowes as the newest member of Ajax Animal Hospital's Veterinary team. Dr. Lisa is originally from Nova Scotia and she is a graduate of the Atlantic Veterinary College in P.E.I.. She has been in companion animal practice since graduation and is an enthusiastic and friendly addition to our hospital!
Lisa shares the commitment of the other doctors in the practice to continuing education and has already attended recent lectures on Dermatology and Pain Management!

September 21st, 2011 - Everyone at the AAH wishes Dr. Laura Lenhardt and her husband the best as she starts her maternity leave (we will let you know when the baby arrives!!) and we would like to welcome Dr. Pearl Chan to our team.
Dr. Chan, a graduate of the Ontario Veterinary College will be covering for Dr. Lenhardt and is very excited to meet the clients and pets of the Ajax Animal Hospital!

September, 2011 - In keeping with this itchy time of year, Dr. Shahiri attended a Dermatology seminar on Atopy (environmental allergy) in Dogs presented by Dr. Stephen Waisglass.

June, 2011 - Dr. Mimi Ehrlich and Karen Manuel AHT are off to California to attend the Pacific Veterinary Conference. This is a continuing education event and we look forward to the new information they will bring back to us!

May 29, 2011 - Tina Berlinghoff RVT completed the half marathon (Toronto Women's Runs) in 2hours and 1 minute placing 262nd out of over 2000 competitors!
Everyone at AAH is very proud of her achievement! Way to go, Tina!

April 5, 2011 - Dr. Jones attended an information session presented by Dr. Margie Scherk DVM DAVBP (feline practice) and supported by Boehringer Ingelheim (the makers of Metacam). This talk centred on recognizing, preventing and treating both acute and chronic pain in cats. They don't have to hurt so please ask us what we can do to help.

PET DENTAL MONTH 2011 AT AAH - Over 30 pets have been in to have a thorough dental examination and tooth cleaning under anesthetic in the last 2 months! That means 30 beautiful smiles, better breath and more comfortable pets!

March 23, 24, 25, 2011 - We will be sending 7 Team Members to the joint OVMA (Ontario Veterinary Medical Association) and AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association) Conference in Toronto this year. Dr. Findlay, Dr. Troughton, Dr. Jones, Jodi Smith RVT (Registered Veterinary Technician), Karen Gilkes RVT, Michelle Nash (Reception) and Scott McRobbie (Practice Manager) will be learning the most current information about companion animal practice to apply to our hospital's up-to-date approach to veteinary medicine.

March 11, 2011- The ENTIRE AAH Animal Health Care Team met to discuss and brainstorm about our approach to the impending 2011 Spring/Summer/Fall Parasite Season. We are prepared to help you keep your family (2 and 4 legged members) healthy and parasite free this year. Since we are all pet owners, we understand the importance of keeping our pets free from parasites.
We also discussed the critical diagnostic and disease preventing information that is achieved through Wellness Blood testing.
Please make an appointment to meet with us to discuss parasite prevention and the health of your pet!

8, 2011 - Dr. Shahiri attended an information session on Tick-borne
illness and Tick prevention and Dr. Ehrlich and Dr. Lenhardt were guests
at a discussion forum about the best approach to flea prevention.

March 7, 2011 - Dr. Lenhardt and Dr. Jones have completed a course covering Cushing's Disease (Hyperadrenocorticism) including new diagnostic tests and the newest medications available for treatment.

March 4, 2011 - Dr. Ehrlich participated in an evening lecture to bring back information on treating spinal injuries in dogs to her colleagues at the AAH.

March 3, 2011 - Dr. Shahiri attended an information session presented by experts in Veterinary Dermatology and Behaviour to discuss the most recent data and treatment options pertaining to ear infections (otitis externa) and fear-related behaviours in pets.

24, 2011 - Dr. Jones has just returned from The Western Veterinary
Conference in Las Vegas. While there, she completed a course to learn
an innovative surgical technique for repairing the Cranial Cruciate Ligament in
dogs (to address a common knee/stifle injury that we see in patients at the AAH). She also spent time upgrading her skills in x-ray and ultrasound
diagnoses and learning the most up-to-date information about Kidney,
Pancreatic and Gastrointestinal disease in dogs and cats.

February, 2011 - Dr. Jones has completed an 8 week course in Veterinary Pain Management and has a special interest in Anesthesia and Analgesia. She is now a member of the International Veterinary Acadamy of Pain Management.
Please ask us about our Integrated Pain Management Techniques for patients undergoing surgical or dental procedures in addition to those coping with chronic diseases (like osteoarthritis or cancer).

Dr. Jones has worked at the AAH since she was a student at Ajax High School and has been practicing with us since her graduation from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2001!
