Dr. Manuel

Dr David Manuel

Dr. Manuel was born and raised in the Beaches area of Toronto and after graduating from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1969 (yes, Dr. Liddell and he were classmates) he practiced for two years at the Brack Animal Hospital in Windsor, Ontario. He returned to the Toronto area in 1971 and with Dr. Liddell established the Ajax Animal Hospital. The rest, as they say, is history.
Dr. Manuel’s special interests are surgery, cytology (looking at cell samples with the microscope) and trying to keep the computers working.

His pets include Louis, a Boxer and Ling, a Siamese cat of indeterminate age both of whom were rescued courtesy of the Oshawa Humane Society.

Dr. Liddell

Rich 08

Dr. Richard Liddell, along with Dr. Dave Manuel, is the founder and owner of the Ajax Animal Hospital.  He grew up in Windsor, Ontario and graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1969.  Rich and Dave opened the hospital in 1970 and the rest is, of course, history.  His latest ‘claim to fame’ is his 800 km walk across the Pyrenees, from France to Spain, along the famed Camino de Santiago, an old pilgrim route, which he weathered very well.  One of his heroes is good old Mickey Mouse and rumour has it that there is actually a tattoo involved!  He is married to Lynn, our office manager, and they have two children who have given them the wonderful gift of 5 grandchildren!  Petula (Golden Retreiver), Wentworth (Siamese) and Kitty (Domestic shorthair) make sure all goes according to plan at the Liddell household.

When Rich is not at the clinic, he is often writing.  An example of this is his regular article about growing up in Windsor during the 50’s and 60’s, which is published in the Walkerville Times, a monthly Windsor newspaper.

He focuses strongly on dentistry and the human animal bond, very much enjoying the interaction with clients and patients.

Dr. Findlay

BJF 2005

Dr. Findlay started her post secondary education at the University of Waterloo and graduated with an Honours BSc in kinesiology and a B Math.  She then attended the University of Guelph and obtained her DVM degree.  She has been a member of the Ajax Animal Hospital team since 1981.

Barb shares her home with her husband Peter, a pilot with Bombardier, daughter Kristy and the 3 cats Harvey, Patty and Phil.  All the cats are Ajax Animal Hospital adoptees.  When not at the clinic, Dr. Findlay is busy driving her daughter to her many activities, helping with piano practice and homework.  What little time is left is spent enjoying a game of golf with her family or hiking.

Dr. Ehrlich

Mimi 08

Dr. Mimi Ehrlich arrived at the Ajax Animal Hospital fresh from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1992, and plans to ‘stay here forever’.  She left a career as a computer operator to go back to school as an adult as she cannot imagine any vocation that could be more rewarding than her current one.  Her special interests include behaviour, internal medicine and ultrasound, as well as emergency medicine.

Her husband, Frank, was the motivating factor in Mimi’s career choice as he first introduced her to the possibility of cats as pets.  Now, she shares her home with Mel, Pokeman, Little Orphan Frannie, Touloose and Josephine, all rescue cats, and spends much of her spare time cleaning up cat hair.  Her other interests include a fascination with karate (“I get to kick, scream, smash things, and it’s all good!”), and making home-made sushi and chocolate.  She also has a love of adventure travel.  While it has always been her dream to own a Golden Retriever, whenever her family votes, it is always 2 for, and 5 (cats) against.  She has the honour of being the only member of Golden Rescue not actually having a dog, let alone a Golden Retriever.

Dr. Jones

Karyn Jo 08

Dr. Karyn Jones joined the team at Ajax Animal Hospital as a veterinarian in 2001.   This represented a real homecoming for her as she actually started with us in 1987 as a part-time receptionist and veterinary assistant while she was a student at Ajax High School.  In fact, Karyn worked at the AAH on and off while pursuing both of her degrees.  We couldn’t keep her away!

Becoming a veterinarian reflects a life-long fascination and dedication to the well-being of all animals.  After achieving an honours degree in Wildlife Biology from the University of Guelph, Karyn ran a wildlife education and rehabilitation centre in Ottawa.  During her time at the Ontario Veterinary College she pursued her special interests in exotic/wildlife medicine, surgery and especially anesthesia and pain control.  She maintains connections within the profession serving on volunteer committees, editorial boards and the alumni association and really enjoys mentoring both prospective and current veterinary students.

At home, Karyn is owned by Peggy, a gorgeous 3 legged grey cat (an AAH adoptee) and Lyvie (Black Olyve), a flat coated retriever who is becoming quite proficient in Canine Agility and Frisbee.  She is dedicated to her family and friends and cherishes the time that she spends with her husband, Scott and her stepson Wyatt.

Dr. Troughton

Dr Jennifer Troughton

Dr. Jennifer Troughton is a talented Veterinarian who has worked in the veterinary medicine field for nearly 20 years.  As well as cats and dogs, Jenn doctors exotic animals; handling ferrets, rats, hamsters, rabbits and parrots to name just a few.  Her caring, compassionate nature has brought clients from as far as Bowmanville to have her look after their animals.  During leisure hours, Jenn enjoys gardening, reading and renovating her century home and taking long walks in the woods.  She shares her residence with 3 cats – Folly, Pretzel, Virginia Pig and a dog named Flynn.  Jenn ventured to take horse-back riding lessons for a short duration.  Unfortunately, after suffering some head banging experiences, Jenn decided to stick to reading as her favourite pastime.

Dr. Lenhardt

Dr. Laura Lenhardt joined the Ajax Animal Hospital as a veterinarian after graduating from the Ontario Veterinary Hospitalin 2008.  Laura spent several years withus prior to graduation as a kennel student throughout her studies at theUniversity of Guelph.  Born and raised inAjax, it hasbeen a dream come true for her to return to practice in this community, caringfor the pets and their families.
