Puppy Care

Puppy Care

STARTING THEM OFF RIGHT ....
Our puppy wellness program is designed to offer your new puppy all the benefits of the veterinary services available to him or her from 6 - 8 weeks of age until 16 - 20 weeks of age.
  • Immunity & Parasite Treatment/Prevention: Included in this service is a series of examinations and vaccinations including rabies, distemper, parvovirus, etc. In addition, your puppy will be tested for worms and be treated for the most common intestinal worm of puppies -> roundworms. Roundworms can cause gastrointestinal signs such as vomiting and/or diarrhea. It can also cause disease in people. There are other parasites that can cause similar symptoms and can even cause your puppy to become anemic (low red blood cells). Performing a fecal test will allow us to treat your puppy accordingly. Although some worms are visible to the naked eye, most worm burdens are diagnosed by examining the stool of your puppy microscopically.
  • Nutritional Assessment and Recommendation: The only health care treatment that we are able to provide to our pets every single day of their lives is food. There are critical decisions that need to be made about a puppy's nutrition while they are rapidly growing and the puppy wellness exams are a perfect time to discuss this with a Vet.
  • Breed Specific Preventive Care: During these early visits, you can talk to a Vet about the specific diseases and concerns facing your pet's breed and determine if there are ways that you can help to prevent these problems before they start.
  • Spaying and Neutering: Please ask your Vet about these procedures and their health and behaviour benefits for the pets that share our homes.
