Dr. Devon Barnes has been a member of the AAH team since 2007 when she started with us as a student veterinary assistant. She completed her BSc at the University of Guelph and her veterinary medicine degree at Ontario Veterinary College. She joined the team of DVMs in the spring of 2015. While she definitely loves all creatures great and small, Devon has a particular affection for giant breed dogs and pocket pets, though goofy male cats always make her laugh here and in her home. Her medical interests lie in rehabilitation and pain management techniques, palliative care and emergency medicine. She also loves to work with working and sport dogs. Devon is committed to fear free medicine in the clinic and is certified in low stress handling.
Devon and her husband, Will, are the parents of two adorable little girls, Adeline and Grace. You may have seen one of Grace & Addie's smiling visits to the hospital to see their mom at work! In her rare moments of free time, Devon enjoys baking, hiking, travelling and spending time with her family. The pets that are fortunate to own her are a gorgeous German Shepherd named Oakley, her beautiful and slightly clumsy Great Dane x Mastiff named Norah and three very handsome cats named Jude, Kevin and Eddie. Degrees: BSc, U of Guelph, DVM, Ontario Veterinary College 2015. Special Interests: Pain management and rehabilitation, emergency medicine, palliative care, behaviour and Giant Breed Dogs
