Laser Therapy for Pets

An alternative medical treatment that uses light therapy to promote healing in pets.

Therapeutic Laser is just one of the many rehabilitation techniques that we offer at AAH. All of our veterinarians are certified in the use of our K-Laser Class IV Therapeutic Laser. This innovative therapy has many applications for patients suffering from acute and chronic pain, inflammation or pets going through recovery. Laser therapy is often recommended because it is non-invasive and patients always have improvement in their conditions.

What are the benefits of laser therapy?

Therapeutic laser stimulates healing with the use of light waves. The light is able to penetrate deep into the patient's skin reaching a cellular level. Once the cells are stimulated they release endorphins, increase blood and oxygen flow which helps with a faster recovery. Laser therapy can be used to treat the following conditions:

  • Hair loss
  • Inflammation
  • Arthritis
  • Hip dysplasia
  • Allergies
  • Pain from surgery
  • Muscle, tendon and ligament injuries
  • Skin Infections
  • Hot spots
  • Skin lesions
  • Lick granulomas

How many sessions will my pet need?

From your pet's rehabilitation assessment, the veterinarian can decide how many sessions your pet will need for the treatment to be successful. Most patients show improvement even after the first session, but they will likely need a minimum of three. To learn how this treatment can help your pet please call us at 905-683-6430.

Is the treatment safe for my pet?

Absolutely! No harm will come to your pet during their session or as a result of the treatment. Our veterinarians are extremely cautious when providing the treatment, as the patient's safety and comfort are important to us. Your pet will most likely begin to relax during their treatment.
