Veterinary Exam

Book your pet's next wellness exam to keep them happy and healthy.

Routine exams are a great way to ensure that your loyal companion stays happy and healthy. We like to see pets regularly, especially as they age to make adjustments to their care. Our goal, like yours, is to keep our pet patients healthy and happy for as long as we can. It is much safer and cost-effective to prevent disease than to treat it. During these wellness exams, we detect many diseases in pets who appear to be “normal” and healthy. The result of this early detection is that we are able to address problems in the early stages. Early diagnosis and appropriate treatments can result in your companion living a longer healthier life.

When should my pet have a veterinary exam?

Just like humans, your loyal companions should have yearly veterinary visits. Pets will go through various changes within a year and for their health and your peace of mind your veterinarian should be aware of them. Some pets may require up to 3 annual wellness exams based on their age or health status. Kittens and puppies need three veterinary exams in a year and senior pets should have bi-annual exams. Please call us at 905-683-6430 to schedule a veterinary exam for your pet.

What happens during a veterinary exam?

A veterinary exam is a full body assessment of your pet. The veterinarian examines your pet from nose to tail paying special attention to their eyes, ears, mouth, paw, coat/fur and even their breathing. More diagnostic testing such as blood, urine or fecal analysis, ultrasound or X-ray may be performed to detect unknown illnesses. Our team will also ask questions to paint a better picture of your pet's health and lifestyle. The veterinarian will want to know about any behavioural, dietary or symptomatic changes you see in your pet. Once the exam is completed, we provide treatment if necessary and recommendations for preventative care/immunity and nutrition.
